Bio
The story of the Hargreaves Family began on Vancouver Island, where many generations of men in the family logged and worked the land, in remote areas of British Columbia, including the Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii). Norman Hargreaves began logging in 1935, and his sons, Ray and Richard, carried on his legacy.
Through the years, close friendships with the indigenous people were built, and the relationship between this family of Loggers, and the Native Artists who created majestic pieces with the same glorious wood that they harvested, was ultimately formed.
The Hargreaves family have collected many pieces of art that have been passed along throughout the years within their family.
The passion for Native Art remains in the younger generations, and to carry on the legacy of his predecessors, Jason Hargreaves, son of Ray, who was born and raised in the Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii), would like to showcase the spectacular pieces that he has accumulated over the years.
This gallery will provide an outlet to the friends and connections he has compiled in the realm of West Coast Native Art, to display and sell their pieces, and communicate the stories behind the art.
